Animation: Bringing the Curriculum to Life
Teachers and pupils in our primary schools have been making the most of Digital animation by participating in a CLC project. We have worked with 5 primary schools and 2 special schools, in a project that included training for teachers and sessions in the CLC for pupils. We then provided loan equipment in the form of Apple Mac Mini computers and DV cameras to enable teachers and pupils to carry on their work in school. Matt Revill, from Lowedges Primary, one of the participating schools, who used animation to tell the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff said, "The project really helped the children to develop their skills - not only their ICT skills, but also their literacy, storytelling and teamwork skills. We'd certainly like to do this again!"
Some of the animations created through the project have been entered for the Steel City Globe Awards Schools Digital Films competition, which holds its showcase event as part of the Showcomotion Children's Film Festival
