What is ILT?
ILT (Information Learning Technology) is the use of ICT in teaching and learning to enhance and encourage learning. There are great developments in this area within education at present. We need teachers to use ILT across the curriculum to evaluate what works well and what doesn't.

What's involved in this project?
We want to encourage innovation and we know that this can be better supported with certain kit and software. We don't want to dictate what kit you get, so we would like your ideas. One idea from each school within the partnership will be taken up.
We need departments in schools to put forward ideas within the next month. We know it will be difficult to decide which dept. has the best idea within each school, so we're equally happy for just one or for more than one to apply from each school. The partnership group will be looking for ideas around kit that costs around £1000 up to £2250.

Do you have to be good with computers to be involved in this?
You don't have to be fantastic with computers in order to be involved with this project, although it would be good if you had basic knowledge of a Windows system. All you need is the idea and the willingness to learn - the CLC can support you by giving training and/or technical support. Part of the CLC's remit is to ensure that teachers professionally develop and if you have really wanted to do something with ICT for a long time, but haven't had the confidence this could be just the kind of project you need to kick start your venture.
There will be a 'showcase event' that will take place in July 2003 where you can demonstrate how you have used the kit and share good practise. You will also get a chance to look at others work. There will be an evaluation event to find out how we can develop on this project, what needs to be put in place in schools to allow this to happen, what's been good and bad about the project etc.
The CLC's priority will be to ensure that there is an even spread of subjects across the partnership and we will discuss the ideas put forward and make a decision on the outcome at the scheduled Partnership meeting in June. Thereafter we can allocate the money, you can order what you need and hopefully get the kit in place before September.
